About Us

Catholic Volunteers Africa is run by a dynamic group of Catholics based in South Africa. Our main objective is to assist the needy and impoverished areas of South Africa. We are fortunate enough to be associated with a successful local tour operator Viva Safaris, who too share our hopes and dreams of assisting these poor local communities within our country. With the assistance of Viva Safaris, we have designed an exciting 14-day outreach experience, with a combination of missionary work as well as an unforgettable wildlife safari in South Africa.

We would like to welcome all Catholic Volunteers, other Christian faiths as well as whoever may be interested in our volunteer program to do outreach work in our local Catholic communities. The initial beneficiary is Sancta Maria parish, ministering to a very poor and impoverished community in Acornhoek adjacent to the world-famous Kruger National Park. Our plan is to extend this operation to other parishes and other impoverished areas in South Africa.

During your 14-day program you will assist the needy in various community empowering and self-sustainable projects, as well as enjoy an exciting African adventure with Big Five safaris, making your trip a wonderful blend of hard work and an unforgettable fun-filled African experience.

Our program’s main focus is on mission and outreach work, but also incorporates this golden opportunity for our volunteers to experience exciting wildlife encounters in the African bush.

A list of the projects for the local communities will include:

  • Building Churches, Clinics and Creches.
  • Establishing Fish Farming and Chicken Rearing projects.
  • Developing Vegetable Gardens.
  • Teaching English and other academic subjects.
  • Improving sports and cultural activities for the local communities.
  • Assisting with Weaving of Mats.

Catholic Volunteers Africa have undertaken to accelerate the outreach work in our local communities. We shall attend to the needs of the local people, ministering to this very poor and impoverished community and will add new projects to ensure we make a positive and impactful change to the lives of this community.

We will run two groups per month: 1st to 14th and 15th to 28th

Maximum number of volunteers per group is 24.

Accommodation is in en-suite chalets: we have eight triple-bedded units. All beds have mosquito nets.

Although the beneficiaries will be Catholic institutions, we have no restrictions on the religion of our volunteers
